Job Description:
· Accepts assignments as directed by the Project Director/Project Sponsor/General Manager. Reports to the more experienced Project Manager or Project Director when so assigned for scope, schedule and budget guidelines and assumes overall responsibility for the phase(s) of the work assigned.
· Accepts assignments as Proposal Manager as directed. Assignment as Proposal Manager includes detailed review of ITB, execution planning, estimating support, proposal reviews, technical proposal input and/or client presentations, as needed.
· Prior to commencement of the work, meets with the Proposal Manager for the “handover” of documentation generated by the organisation and the client during the presentation of the proposal.
· Organises the project team and, with the department managers, arranges for the selection of the lead project team members, as necessary, for adequate staffing and support facilities in accordance with the project scope and budget.
· Organises the internal kick off meeting with key team members.
· Develops and plans the general execution of the project and establishes project policies. Responsible for the preparation of the project execution plan. Supervises and directs project related activities of the project team members within scope, schedule and cost guidelines. Promotes cost and schedule awareness among team members.
· Advises project team members of the scope and any special requirements of the project and assures that information required from the client is made available to the project team members.
· Administers project changes and negotiates them with the client, where applicable. Assures preparation of all budgets and schedules for the project and approves the same and obtains approval of the necessary department managers through the assigned lead project team members and advises these personal of budget and schedule requirements.
· Ensures that the project risk management plan developed during the proposal phase is incorporated into the execution plan. Performs periodic reviews and updating of the risk management plan throughout the project.
· Becomes familiar with, applies, and requires application by the project team of applicable procedures, methods and practices developed by the various departments consistent with project execution requirements.
· Functions as the organisation’s primary contact with the client in matters pertaining to project execution and keeps the senior management advised of clients concerns and relations.
· Emphasises, applies, and requires application of “team concept” principles in project execution. Encourages direct communication between project team members while requiring formal procedures to be followed, as required. In general, provides the leadership and management skills to motivate the project team through personal interest and enthusiasm to achieve the planned objectives.
